01 / The context

The problem behind the project.

A firm moving from CCH Practice Management to IRIS STAR needed its historical invoices to remain accessible. The source contained encrypted documents, duplicate invoice numbers, and identities that could change between extract phases.

02 / The contribution

How I approached it.

1. Profiled the source population and documented nulls, reversals, cancellations, and duplicate-number behavior.
2. Used the vendor's own libraries for authorized document extraction, then converted RTF to PDF through Word automation.
3. Applied target-key rules while retaining superseded versions under a controlled naming convention.
4. Inspected the first ten conversions in full, sampled the remainder, and compared the final cut with the initial snapshot to find identity changes.

03 / The result

What the work made possible.

A final conversion cut of 200,066 historical records was processed, including the two invoices whose identity had changed. Both targeted adjustments and a merged replacement were prepared for a controlled handoff.
