01 / The context
The problem behind the project.
A global accounting practice was compiling monthly financial reports manually. Its reporting needed to become repeatable while continuing to support the business as upstream platforms changed.
02 / The contribution
How I approached it.
- Built a SQL Server reporting engine producing Excel XML output across areas, offices, account groups, and revenue comparisons.
- Used mapping tables for engagements, business units, locations, products, and services to keep analysis explicit.
- Rebuilt the intake as the source moved through two Business Objects generations and then to SAP HANA.
- Retained responsibility for maintenance and recurring delivery long after the initial build.
03 / The result
What the work made possible.
A compilation that had taken a director more than a week was reduced to minutes. Fourteen years after its original design, the engine was still producing the practice's monthly reports.
