01 / The context

The problem behind the project.

A global accounting practice was compiling monthly financial reports manually. Its reporting needed to become repeatable while continuing to support the business as upstream platforms changed.

02 / The contribution

How I approached it.

  1. Built a SQL Server reporting engine producing Excel XML output across areas, offices, account groups, and revenue comparisons.
  2. Used mapping tables for engagements, business units, locations, products, and services to keep analysis explicit.
  3. Rebuilt the intake as the source moved through two Business Objects generations and then to SAP HANA.
  4. Retained responsibility for maintenance and recurring delivery long after the initial build.

03 / The result

What the work made possible.

A compilation that had taken a director more than a week was reduced to minutes. Fourteen years after its original design, the engine was still producing the practice's monthly reports.
