The problem behind the project.
An accounting firm needed its first multi-entity STAR database without sacrificing reporting continuity. Existing jobs, staff, contacts, WIP, and ledger relationships had to move while preserving the ability to explain their original identity.
02 / The contribution
How I approached it.
- Researched the entity and ledger model with vendor technical staff before changing production.
- Built reversible transfer scripts, audit trails, and repeatable batches; tested them against multiple fresh database instances.
- Decomposed six financial-report procedures and recorded intermediate output to isolate accounting discrepancies.
- Recovered deleted original identifiers from backups, preserved cross-references, and resolved 28 complex cases individually.
03 / The result
What the work made possible.
The firm's first multi-entity STAR database was delivered with pre- and post-deployment backups, report smoke tests, audit history, and a controlled path through subsequent WIP and job transfers.
